Tobacco

You’ve heard it before, but we’ll say it again- tobacco is the Leading cause of preventable death and disability in Oregon and all of the United States. We know tobacco harms your body in many ways-from causing cancer in the trachea, lung, and bronchus (to name a few places) to increasing your risk for stroke or heart attack.

Here at the Malheur County Health Department, we look to connect you with the resources you need to help quit using tobacco. We also work with other local agencies and local government to create policies to protect our community from all tobacco products.

If you’re interested in quitting tobacco:
Please call the Free Tobacco Quitline: 1-800-QUIT-NOW or check out Smoke Free Oregon for more information. Smokefree.gov also has a text messaging service to help in quitting tobacco.
If you’d like help calling the quit line or have further questions, please contact the Health Department at (541) 889-7279.
