HIV Testing and Counseling

The purpose of the HIV program is to educate the community about HIV/AIDS and to provide HIV counseling and testing for high-risk individuals. In addition to testing for HIV, one of the primary goals of the counseling and testing program is to promote safer behavior among high-risk individuals in order to reduce the spread of the virus.

HIV testing can be integrated as a part of a Sexually Transmitted Disease visit. After the exam, a nurse will discuss HIV risk factors and help you develop a safer sex plan. You will need to return for HIV test results in one week. HIV test results cannot be given over the phone or mailed to you. HIV testing can be anonymous or confidential. Patients are not turned away for inability to pay for services.
